Mason students mourn three in fatal Butler County crash

Three William Mason High School girls Melanie Webster Kimberly Eickenhorst and Barbara Ehde died when their 1971 compact car struck a tree on the Butler Warren County Line Road then burst into flames. Webster believed to be driver. burial plans set for Arlington Memorial Gardens Rose Hill Memorial Park and Oak Hill Glendale. Memorials suggested to the high school library.

Perin to speak to lady GOPs in Union Township

Butler County Engineer Stanley Perin will address the Union Township Republican Women's Club on Tuesday March 27 at Mrs. Frank Jones 9167 Minuteman Way West Chester. Kiwanis Expands Into Union Township Union Township recruits for charter

Kiwanis moves into Union Township with 31 prospective members, a charter petition sent to Kiwanis International, and planned first charter meeting on April 4. W. P. Lawrence heads a four member team to establish the new chapter amid ties to Jaycees and Pisgah Youth Organization.

Deaf mute pinned in auto wreckage

John Cochrel a 44 year old deaf mute of 619 Ross Ave was in satisfactory condition at Mercy Hospital after his car skidded off Route 747 in Union Township and overturned into a ditch. He was trapped over two hours and reportedly unable to call for help. He suffered a fractured leg internal injuries and facial lacerations.

Schmitz to head ULJ publication

Pamela T. Schmitz a senior at Miami University Oxford will be co editor of the Union Liberty Journal with Mike O Connor remaining news editor She has worked for Hamilton Journal News as Oxford correspondent general assignment reporter and weekend police reporter and is Sunday editor on the Hamilton paper She is a Dayton native and in June she joins ULJ to edit the weekly community paper.

Liberty School fifth graders explore kiln craft art

Liberty School pupils in room 16 learn copper enameling under artist-in-residence Mrs. Huberta Schulz. They handle a kiln three times yearly, with the latest project during Christmas and a hopeful Mothers Day session planned, describing enamel firing as a brief, safe process for young artists.

Pi Omicron Presents $300 To PYO For Community Building

Pi Omicron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority donated 300 to PYO for a youth group led community building project on the PYO grounds along Route 12. The funds come from the sorority February Valentine Dance proceeds with PYO members Don Patrick Pat Mohrfield and Dave Loggains joined by Pi Omicron members Jo Nelson Mary Jane Polacek and Donna Nicol.
