Liberty Township mulls life squad with federal aid hope

Fire Chief Henry Taylor reports 18 volunteers ready to take the State Emergency Victim Care and Rescue Course if offered locally. The 60 hour program is a prerequisite for Federal assistance, which remains unfunded. Clerk Warren Satterfield cites up to 13000 for squad gear, but funds depend on training and actual grants.

Union Township approves M-1 to B-2 zoning for 4.8 acres

Butler County Commissioners approve rezoning 4.8 acres along Route 42 in Union Township from M-1 light industrial to B-2 community business to restrict expansion of an adjacent trailer park. The prior M-1 to B-3 plan was denied. The board also weighs funding for an Emergency Care and Rescue course and a potential second firehouse, with federal aid discussions ongoing and a March 29 water drainage meeting set for Liberty Trails residents.

Union Township approves road equipment and police upgrades

Union Township Trustees approved buying a GMC two and a half ton dump truck for 5392 after trade in of a 1965 model. A Gallion road roller was awarded at 6950 with a 1000 trade in. Fire panel truck bid from Fiehrer Motors 5997.66 under consideration. Police add two new cars, repaint older doors, purchase gear and patches. Chief Noland completed Ohio State Police Academy training.

Brookville man charged with murder in Sharonville drive-in shooting

Warren County police accuse Douglas W. Willis of first degree murder in the nighttime shooting of Paul C. Cole at the Academy Drive-In Theater near Mason. Cole died from a chest wound after an auto accident dispute. Willis was captured about 90 minutes later and jailed under a $100,000 bond.
