Two men were injured in separate crashes on Cincinnati Dayton Road in Union Township. Arthur Endebrock 29 Middletown suffered head lacerations when his car ran off the road and hit a mailbox then lawn before stopping at 7498 Cincinnati Dayton Road. He was treated and released. Gary Jeffers 17 Middletown sustained a kidney injury after skidding into a utility pole and was transported to Mercy Hospital then transferred to Middletown Hospital.
Union Township police investigate a Saturday night theft at Vergil Whitt's West Chester home. More than $2,000 in guns and items vanished between 6 and 10 p.m. Police seek serial numbers and have opened the case. Separate inquiry into a Red Lantern Tavern break-in on Cincinnati Dayton Road, with a pried door and possible stolen cigarette machine. Four St. Xavier graduates from Cincinnati area named.
The Butler County Board of Zoning Appeals denied a request to build a children’s day care center at 8898 Hamilton- Middletown Road after opponents spoke out. The decision cited incompatibility with the residential district and concerns about drainage and noise. Union Township leads Butler County in May with 32 permits for new houses and apartments totaling $3,197 in fees and $4,788 in valuation. The Butler County sheriff's office and county coroner investigate the discovery of a left foot and part of a left leg found Sunday afternoon at Gann's automobile junkyard on Canal road north of Hamilton. The partial limb is believed to belong to a man and was found by Rev. Charles Petit who alerted authorities.
