West By West: Lakota Coach Becomes Phillies Scout

West, former Lakota High School baseball coach, becomes Philadelphia Phillies full time scout in the Ohio area. He will travel across Hamilton Clinton Warren and Clermont counties to identify major league prospects from pony league to college and rural programs. Marilyn Crawford Named to Conference for a Safe Ohio

Marilyn Crawford of Butler County is among 150 Ohio leaders named to the Conference for a Safe Ohio held at Capital University. Topics included curbing violent crime and strategies to expedite prosecutions and longer sentences. Local officials and citizens attended the OKI conference on Federal Aid to Local Governments at Hilton Inn Sharonville with special guest Senator W. J. Ullrich. Union Township to buy new fire pumper and radar unit discussed

May 25 trustees approved bidding for a new fire pumper while delaying radar unit action until funds are appropriated. Police say the unit would help monitor speeding from half a mile away but deny intent to create a speed trap. Additional items include addressing water pressure issues, construction site safety, and a new police officer sworn in.
