Union Township trustees confirmed plans for Memorial Day events including a May 28 parade starting at Union School and proceeding to Union Township Cemetery. Lakota High School Marching Band expected to participate. A flag pole will be donated in memory of former trustee James Bud Richards, with a plaque to follow.
Liberty Township trustees advanced fire equipment updates as Fire Chief Miller outlined plans to convert a GMC truck into a 700 gallon water tanker with welded enclosure and high pressure pump. The board approved purchasing four radio receivers for 672.50 and studied trade-in options with two township transceivers for Electrons.
Clifton Reeves of Cincinnati faces resisting and abusing an officer unarmed robbery and needle possession after a March 28 Pisgah drug store robbery. His hearing in Area Two Court set for April 18 with defense counsel appointed. A third suspect remains at large. Reeves on $3,200 bond, other defendants receive mixed outcomes including dismissals and suspended terms. Local police report March activity and a park opening announcement closes the piece.
Mrs. Jan Vaughn's Hopewell Elementary fifth graders in Pisgah designed a scaled water purification plant for a Butler County science contest. Led by chief engineer Gary Lay with help from Lisa Schradin and David Stone, the project mimics a full plant using soil pots, a screen, chlorine treatment, a chopper, and alum settling tanks, testing cycles and fixing leaks during a month of work.
Lakota Student Council tabled a plan for a district swimming pool costing about 300000. The proposal would open to the public after hours and in summer with a small fee, pending survey results and site questions.

Douglas Willis, 23, of Brookville Indiana, indicted by a Warren County Grand Jury on first degree murder in the March 10 shooting death of Paul C. Cole 34 of Sharonville at the Academy Drive In Mason. Willis is jailed on a 100000 bond pending further proceedings.
The Lakota High School spring musical Oliver! features Kim Craig and Jim Howard in rehearsal. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the school. Tickets cost 1.50 dollars. Adapted from Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, the show follows the classic Broadway and film history.
