Funeral services for Annie Marie Hietala 78 of Redwood Valley died Saturday in Burlingame. Services Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Eversole Mortuary with Pastor Ken Hewitt in charge. Burial in Ukiah Cemetery. Survived by four daughters, two sons, 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Last living member of the original Finnish colony to Redwood Valley.

Oakland youth Damon Knight dies from Labor Day crash injuries
Damon Norman Knight, 21, of Oakland and son of civic leader Dennison Knight, died in a local hospital from injuries after a one car crash on Lake Mendocino Drive over Labor Day weekend. The death brings the local CHP area fatality toll to 23 with seven deaths from three one vehicle accidents. Funeral arrangements are pending at Zimmerman Mortuary.

Freak mishap kills driver in deadly aftermath

Nikita S. Khrushchev was buried in Moscow not in a Kremlin vault but in a modest cemetery section. A seven foot wreath and a seven line Pravda obituary marked the low key farewell as Sergei Khrushchev delivered the eulogy. Pickup crash injures two Ukiah teens on Lake Mendocino Drive
Two Ukiah youths, Douglas Briggs 17 and Laura Sullivan 16, were seriously hurt when their pickup skidded off a curve on Lake Mendocino Drive, hit an oak, rolled down an embankment, and trapped them. Patrol and rescue teams freed them after 20 minutes to 30 minutes. they were taken to Hillside Community Hospital with multiple injuries.
