Five Car Pileup In Construction Zone On Highway 101
A logging truck driver failed to apply brakes, triggering a five car crash Monday in a Laytonville area construction zone on Highway 101. Three southbound vehicles halted by a flagman were struck, pushing the lead car into the second, then the logging truck veered into northbound traffic. All drivers exited cars. no serious injuries reported. Local CHP notes Willits resident Thomas Moody, 31, driving the logging truck, was involved. In Redwood Valley, a Willits man injured when coworker Lawrence Frazier, 33, struck him with a car at West and Rancheria Roads. Chavez treated for moderate injuries at Ukiah General Hospital. Also, Andy Amsbaugh, 67, known for rodeo bulls and bucking horses, remains in stable condition after his car went over an embankment on Highway 162 near the Eel River. rescue and hospital care followed.
