Herman Runkel announced natural gas could become a reality soon in the central county region. He has been negotiating five year oil and gas leases for Ukiah Valley Redwood Valley and Potter Valley with one year to begin exploration. Geological surveys precede drilling and geologists say the sub strata here are highly promising compared with Oklahoma and Texas. Runkel, known as a water dowser, reports using a doodle-bug device to probe for oil and gas.
