Congress Gears to a Better Ukiah

A community Congress for Progress will convene at Ukiah High School on Saturday June 5. Local residents will form discussion panels to identify Greater Ukiah's strengths and weaknesses and seek solutions. Past congresses have attracted industry, recreation, education, and senior citizen initiatives.

Holiday crowds flood summer resorts and roads

Practically every summer resort was filled to overflowing with city vacationists Saturday, Sunday and Monday as the result of the three day holiday. Every campsite in the county held its quota of seekers after the simple life and motoring on the state highways leading into Mendocino and Lake counties was hazardous and difficult owing to the congestion of travel.
