Jones appointed head of Wildlife Management Branch in Sacramento

Robert L. Jones a former regional manager and deputy director of California Fish and Game takes charge of the Wildlife Management Branch at state headquarters in Sacramento. He came to California from Massachusetts in 1952 as Region II manager in San Francisco and led Delta Fish and Wildlife Protects before directing the California Fish and Wildlife Plan in 1964 and becoming deputy director in 1965.

Ukiah and Lakeport open racing season with big Stocker wins

Ukiah's Friday night Northern California Racing Association series kicked off with strong stocker showings led by Jar ry Wheeler and Jack Collenberg. At Lakeport, Castelli topped stockers while Bob Johnson won the supers and Ray Johnson led the Claimer main. Dewey Johnson rolled on Friday, Collenberg was hurt in a Lakeport incident, and more action was set for Friday at Ukiah and Saturday at Lakeport.
