Ex-policeman named in $9 million lawsuit
Roy I Mathers a 36 year old former Ukiah police officer faces a $9,100,000 suit filed in the clerk’s office. Plaintiffs Rube Adkinson Helen McCloud Myrna Lindsay and Sue Rash cite a April 28 crash on the freeway near the Talmage off ramp where their small car was rear ended by Mathers 1970 sedan. The crash reportedly sent the other car into fencing injuring all four occupants. Mathers was jailed for felony drunk driving and suspended. he resigned after the incident and may appear before Judge Tim O’Brien next Friday.

Searchers seek missing paraplegic from Lake Pillsbury trip
A 20 year-old paraplegic, George Stephen Fernandez, is missing after weekend camping with his brother-in-law Ron Raymond. He drove a lift-equipped light orange 1973 GMC panel truck from Sunset Campground, Lake Pillsbury, and was due home Monday at 5 p.m. Family, friends, and Lake County deputies searched by land and a Sonoma County helicopter aided aerials. no clues found.
