Missing Novato Fishermen Found After Nationwide Search
Two Novato fishermen Norman Scott and Robert Porteous were located in Placer County ending an intensive search by the sheriff's department and the U S Division of Forestry in the Anthony Peak area. They had been missing since last Friday after checking in at the Forest Service station and heading into Mendocino National Forest. An air patrol sighted a blue pickup north of Anthony Peak, but ground teams had not located it.

A Superior Court jury yesterday acquitted Willits truck driver Richard E. Acker of 2nd degree burglary. The trial, before Judge Wayne Burke, stemmed from a November 29 burglary at the Woodruff and Whipple Garage in Willits, with truck equipment and tools stolen. Airliner Crashes Into Hillside Killing 44 in California
A Pacific Air Lines F27 en route from Reno and Stockton smashed into a hillside near Danville California killing all 44 aboard. The plane carried 40 passengers a crew of three and FAA observers. One engine was reported disabled before impact. Firefighters found a loaded revolver in the wreckage reportedly belonging to a San Francisco police passenger. FBI and CAB observers investigated custody of the weapon.

Poisoned Gifts Reveal Bitter Engagement Feud
