Deadline set for Ukiah Rodeo Parade entries
Entry forms for the Ukiah Valley Rodeo Parade on May 28 must be filed with the parade committee by May 16 to qualify for awards. Forms available at the Ukiah Junior Chamber of Commerce, the 12th District Fair Office, John's Texaco Service, or from Jaycee members, and also from the Ukiah Chamber of Commerce. Parade order designation is the reason for the deadline, says Jaycee President Thomas M. Roberts. O W Winkler and Ben Shedd named judges for western entries at the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show with more judges to be announced. The parade theme is The Great American West. rodeo at the Fairgrounds May 23 and 24.

Mrs. Jane McKaskle of the State Department of Social Welfare outlined space and personnel requirements to the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors. She projected growth to 48 staff in 1966 needing 8,400 sq ft, rising to 9,600 in 1967 and 12,000 by 1970, with interim space 8,000–8,500 sq ft until 1967. Josette Lynn Proctor age 2 of Las Vegas is in good condition at Ukiah General Hospital after a Sunday head on collision on Highway 101 near Ukiah that killed her mother grandmother and brother. Irwin Smith 57 of San Francisco, driver of the southbound car, is also in good condition at Ukiah General. his wife and mother-in-law died. CHP report says Smith was on the wrong side of the two lane road when the cars met.
