Three Cloverdale Students Die in 101 Crash
Funeral services were held for Richard Stevenson 17 Michael Hatfield 17 and Charles Greppi 16 after a Friday afternoon crash near the Sonoma Mendocino line. A Greyhound bus traveling northbound struck their car at 2 40 pm, pushing it 160 feet. Rescue workers freed the youths as the bus driver Don Miller 55 of Larkspur said he passed a pickup just as the car pulled into the west lane. The crash halted graduation ceremonies which proceeded in a restrained manner without awards or speeches.

Plunge Fatal To Elderly Man at Buckhorn Beach
Hazzard Perry McChord 85 of Little River died after his car backed over a bluff at Buckhorn Beach on Saturday. The sheriff reports the vehicle was in the wrong gear. He died at 3 10 p.m. in Community Hospital Fort Bragg.

Tiny Kitten Tortured By Three Boys
A frightened brown and black kitten was beaten with a stick by three well dressed boys on a sunny Sunday. An unknown man alerted Mrs. Katherine Bush of 100 block W Perkins St, the kitten was thrown over a fence into her yard, a police officer found it injured and bleeding, and the animal was taken to the pound and euthanized.

Diver Drowns At Albion Flats
A scuba diver died Sunday at 1 pm while diving in the surf off Albion Flats. Kenneth H. Sargent, 26, of San Pablo, was identified as the victim. His body was recovered and taken to Cain Funeral Home in Fort Bragg. Deputy Sheriff Leo Ugrin handled the investigation with no further details available.

Car Rolls When Driver Swerves To Avoid Deer
Two injury accidents on Highway 101 Saturday were investigated by the California Highway Patrol. At 11:10 p.m. Clayton Partridge 20 of Orleans swerved to avoid a deer his vehicle plunged down an embankment and overturned with minor injuries reported. A tie rod snapped CHP said. Earlier at 3:45 p.m. seven miles south of Ukiah R B Cartwright 48 of Menlo Park observed a southbound car and trailer swerving and braked was rear ended by Leroy Chadwick 44 of Timonium Maryland. Mrs Olie Baker 69 a passenger in the Chadwick vehicle and Cartwright were treated for non serious injuries. CHP also investigated a rear end collision at 1 p.m. Friday on Highway 101 just south of the Auction Yard Arvo Ulvila of Willits started to pass when the car turned out Brakes applied and he was struck in the rear by Stanley Startwell of Everett Washington.

Bodies Recovered From Clear Lake
