Project Interact aids Ukiah youth with education and activities
A June 9 1971 Ukiah Daily Journal report details Project Interact a pilot program run by Mendocino County health department to curb youth drug use. Coordinator Art Hilbert and Judy Skilling both ex addicts lead six week education courses for first offenders with support from the probation department. The program expands into voluntary communication groups at the Mental Health Clinic and school drug information panels. An Activities Center run by Porcupine Family with Kiwanis Lions and other clubs provides a place for teens to gather.
