Retirement of Mendocino deputy district attorney Edward Nelson

Edward Nelson 37, the Mendocino County deputy district attorney since January 1960, ends his service today after submitting retirement to District Attorney Frank Petersen. He will take a two month trip to London to visit relatives. Born in Austria in 1923, Nelson spent his youth in England and served in the U.S. armed forces under General Mark Clark in Austria before studying law at Stanford. The district attorney's office colleagues saluted him at a courthouse gathering Thursday.
