President Carter and Prime Minister Begin discussed Israel secret peace proposals late Saturday night. Egypt announced Begin will visit a city on Wednesday to endorse the principles, signaling cautious progress in Middle East diplomacy.
President Carter and Prime Minister Begin, joined by aides, met in a seemingly jovial session after Egyptian President Anwar Sadat declared himself more optimistic than ever about the prospects for a broader Middle East peace settlement.
Deputy District Attorney Albert Kubanis challenged William Hull's credentials as a fire expert during cross examination in the Hull arson and fraud trials. Hull, a 22 year LAPD fraud unit veteran turned private investigator, claimed the Coyote Canyon fire was accidental after testing seven major reasons and noting an original investigator’s affidavit.
Pacific Gas and Electric suspended the Willits water rationing that began last June after heavy rains filled the 620 acre foot reservoir. The reservoir serving 1700 customers spilled over as of Thursday night, after being down to 85 acre feet on Nov 4. Cosette of PG&E thanked residents for conservation and urged not to waste water.
