Pot shootout near Garberville in early morning armed robbery
In Garberville an attempted marijuana dealer robbery ended in a shootout at 3 10 a m. A resident armed with a shotgun fired at two intruders injuring one man described as a white male 25 to 30, about 5 10, 175 pounds with curly brown hair. Both suspects fled on foot and no charges were filed against the resident for marijuana possession. Police sought tips on the gunshot victim. Mail plane crash in Wasatch Mountains kills three crew
A United Airlines DC-8 cargo jet carrying Christmas mail from California to Illinois crashed into a canyon wall in the Wasatch Mountains near Fruit Heights Utah. All three crew members were killed.
