Syracuse Tops NCAA In Five Offensive and Defensive Categories

Syracuse University led the NCAA in total offense 451.5 yards per game and rushing offense 313.6, while its defense allowed 96.2 yards per game and yielded 21 points in 70 games. The Orangemen also held top marks in forward passing efficiency and scoring margin, finishing ahead of Mississippi Alabama Brigham Young and Stanford in various categories. Syracuse is the first Eastern team other than Army to win the total offense crown in decades.
