Wage boosts set for Pacific coast longshoremen

The Pacific Maritime Association and the International Longshoremen and Warehousemen's Union agreed to a five cent wage rise effective December 20 and a further six cent increase effective June 13, 1955. The joint announcement cited labor peace as the goal. White House secretary James C. Hagerty urged Republicans to draft President Eisenhower for 1956, calling him the man best suited to lead the nation at that time.

Giant Skymaster Comes to Ukiah Sunday

The Transocean Air Liner DC-4 Skymaster will visit Ukiah airport Sunday afternoon December 19 from 1 to 3 oclock. Open for public inspection with a flight attendant and two pilots guiding visitors, the event promotes the Honolulu flight sponsored by the Ukiah Chamber of Commerce. About 30 passengers are expected. reservations through the Southwest Airway Agency at Hotel Cecille. Don Willhalm of San Francisco, Transocean Air Lines sales rep, arranged the visit in Ukiah Monday.

Death claims newly born Brown in Talmage

The daughter born yesterday to Mr and Mrs Irvin Brown of Talmage died last night. Funeral services are set for four this afternoon at Zimmerman chapel. Burial will be in Ukiah cemetery. She is survived by her parents a brother and a sister.

Monday Accident Second Citation in Ukiah Area

Investigation by Patrolman Arif Stultz into a Monday morning collision 144 miles south of Ukiah between Warren Gregg of Lodi Albert Eldrick of Ukiah and the Newell Hitt Ukiah automobile shows citations. Eldrick cited for failing to stop and signal and driving unsafe. Gregg cited for following too closely and unsafe speed. Hitt suffered a fractured pelvis two broken ribs and severe shock and is hospitalized under Dr. R J Keith care. Hitt is employed by Mendocino Motor Sales.

Sixty at Dinner of Realty Board

Sixty members and guests of the Mendocino County Board of Realtors attended the Christmas party at the House of Gamers Monday night. Gene Schamber turned over the gavel to Ken Ballou as retiring chairman during an investment night. Door prizes and gift exchanges were later donated to the Albertinum for distribution. Mrs B A Cober led God Bless America and Christmas carols, with Wm Nelmes Smith of Bank of America filling in as Santa Claus. Out of town guests included Mr and Mrs Ward Young of Willits and Mrs Ford Keating of Oakland.
