Lakeport settles garbage woes with $2 annual rise
Lakeport City Council in a special session raised the garbage collection charge from 26 to 28 dollars per year for two 30 gallon cans. The change ends two months of county city dispute over mandatory service and contracts. Residents may dump unneeded waste at the county transfer station for free if they opt out. The council says the new rates retroactive to July 1 bring the issue to a close. Residents will see bills mailed Saturday.
