LCDSA settles with county averting midnight picket showdown

Lake County Deputy Sheriff's Association reaches a contract settlement with the county after a tense doorknob countdown and extended picket threat. The agreement grants time and a half for over 40 hours, compensatory time, courtroom appearance pay, restored holiday pay, full medical premium, and higher uniform allowance. Members vote 36 to 3 to accept. trucking unions may still face limits on crossing lines.

Man sought in kidnap attempt on S State St Ukiah

Police search for Sonoma County man after a 18 year old Ukiah girl was accosted Thursday near Motel 6. The suspect pulled into a driveway south of the motel, offered to let her enter his pickup, grabbed her arm when she refused, and drove away after she escaped to a health food store.

Unlucky 13 Candidates Vie For Potter Valley Trustees

Thirteen hopefuls filed for five Potter Valley trustee seats amid a heated Ukiah Unified district feud. Ernie Pauli joined the list as the 13th candidate this morning, with Harry Minnich and Helen Blundell among earlier filers. The vote on November 2 will determine who serves after a unification vote and a prior lawsuit affecting Ukiah Unified and Potter Valley relations.

Follow-up coast bill under study in California

SACRAMENTO UPI The Assembly examined a heavily amended follow-up bill guiding landmark coastal protection legislation. The Senate approved the trailer measure AB2948 25 to 9 and sent it to the Assembly Natural Resources Committee for amendments amid negotiations among Gov Brown legislators and labor reps. The bill by Assemblyman Gary Hart aims to overhaul the controversial coastline bill AB1277.
