Antique car parade opens Lake County Fair in 1973
The 1973 Lake County Fair opens Thursday August 30 at 6 p.m. A parade of antique cars led by Lake County Fair Manager Floyd Baldwin and his wife Mamie will start at Main Street grammar school and end at the fairgrounds main entrance. State Assemblyman Ray Johnson Senator Randolph Collier and Miss Lake County Betty Dittmar attend. Jim and Sandy Hoskinson Ed and Elaine Mansell organize the parade. A new exhibit features a furnished model house directed by Mendo Lake Appliance Dealers with materials from Redwood Fabricators Masonite and Diamond National.

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce showcases a 20 foot recreational exhibit at the California State Fair in Sacramento featuring a 175 gallon fish tank with prize catches from Clear Lake. The chamber plans six shows for 1973 1974 including San Francisco Sports and Boat Show Los Angeles Sportmens Show and National Orange Show. A 10 foot exhibit will visit Anaheim January with a special fish tank rental. Lake County Day features the Lake County Day Purse at the racetrack.

Former winners set for Clear Lake Marathon event
The Lake County Chamber of Commerce hosts the third annual Clear Lake Marathon on September 22 featuring past champions Frederick Timms and Gary Ruff among early entrants. The course begins with a seven mile run, a three mile lake swim, a 3,000 foot Mt. Konocti climb, then reverse swims to finish at Indian Beach Resort. Trophies for top three and special plaques for all starters, plus a Mt. Konocti top trophy, hinge on AAU sanctioning and chamber quest for entries.
