U S to pull 3550 troops from Thailand bases

Transformer Burnout Cuts Ukiah Power Briefly

Electrical service to central Ukiah was disrupted Thursday from 1:12 to 1:29 p.m. due to a transformer failure on Mason Street near Smith. City electrician Maurice Roper said the transformer burned out. the defective unit has been replaced.

Italian exchange student adapts to Ukiah host family

Stefano Bastianoni from Pesaro Italy arrives at Bel Arbes Estates to spend a year as a AFS exchange student with the Chet Hardins. He plans to attend Ukiahi as a senior, play football for the Ukiahi Wildcats, and hopes to become a journalist after college. Largest tax rebate takes effect October 1 in California

California's new law cuts sales tax by one penny for six months starting October 1 and offers a 20 to 35 percent reduction on this year’s income tax bill. Gov.
