The Continental Lumber Company sawmill near Covelo burned Sunday afternoon discovered at 1 45 pm. Fire crews saved the log deck and an adjoining $15000 building. Owner G W Bagely put losses at $135000 with welding blamed for the blaze. One worker was overcome by smoke. Continued on page eight.

Nine-year-old boy injured by outboard at Clear Lake
Ross Arthur Shilts, 9, was cut by a boat propeller while floating on an air mattress at Konocti Bay. The incident, the fifth Clear Lake boating accident in five months, occurred when Gary C. Highway 20 Wreck Injures Two Drivers and Guest
A head on collision on Highway 20, 5.7 miles east of the Redwood highway, injured three people. Donald Espindola of Berkeley and Lena May Espindola suffered facial lacerations and a broken leg in the Berkeley car, with Warren Grissom of San Francisco piloting the westbound vehicle. Espindola was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road. Both cars were total losses and all injured were treated at Ukiah General Hospital.

Lawrence Corbett a 16 year old of Upper Lake was in an accident at 2 40 Monday morning on the north side of Largo hill when his 1 6 ton truck went off the east side of the highway down a 30 foot bank overturned one and one half times reversing its direction and came to a stop on its top The vehicle tore out 45 feet of fire fencing and four 5 foot fence posts and rested 121 feet southeast of the exit point There were no skid marks Corbett suffered only minor injuries and was cited for reckless driving.

Nationwide Quest For Boy Bitten By Rabid Dog
Texas officials launched a broad search with highway patrols across the South and Southwest to locate a boy believed bitten by a mad stray dog. The child, four or five, was bitten last Tuesday at a grocery while traveling with parents who were tourists. The wound seemed minor at first but worsened after the dog died and tests were planned.
