The 1964 Redwood Empire Fair in Ukiah will begin at 10 am next Friday with a Circus theme. Organizers led by Secretary-Manager James R. Tocher, staff, volunteers, and exhibitors await what they call the best show ever featuring life size animals, a mouse circus, and acts by Happy the Clown. The grounds near the north end of Ukiah are decorated in circus colors, with attractions including Goliath the giant steer, a miniature stagecoach, and a cage of live monkeys.

Car Totals But Driver Escapes Injury On Highway 101
Anne A. Buel, 19, of Talmage, walked away uninjured from a totally wrecked overturned car on Highway 101 five miles south of Hopland after losing control. Nearby Arlington, Virginia driver Harry M. Shaup, 22, was hospitalized with major injuries after his car veered off 7.2 miles north of Willits as a nap ended. A Nice, California trucker Gerald Trimeloni, 30, sustained minor injuries when his rig whipped during a turn at East Road and Highway 20. Two young girls escaped unhurt when their car overturned near Willits, with seat belts on.
