May or Banker presented a certificate, his wife Maria joined, and he received membership in the Employer Association and a new table radio. Road Welfare Budgets Trimmed Slightly in 1964-65 Plan
Final county budgets for 1964-65 were reviewed by the Board of Supervisors. A two hour session with Welfare Director Kusow yielded a net cut of 28,678 from the combined welfare and public assistance budget of 3,370,648. The Road Department budget was reduced by 88,240 from 1,925,003, with an elimination of 38,000 for a Boonville yard site. Hearings on the budget continued today.

Ukiah Man Held for Hit and Run
Ukiah Police hold James Elmer Mitchell 39 in City Jail on suspicion of felony drunk driving and felony hit and run after a Richmond driver was struck near North State Street. The victim, Thomas De Griffin 34 from Oakland, was rushed to Ukiah General Hospital with multiple injuries. Police secured a description of the hit and run vehicle from a witness who asked not to be named.
