Four downtown break ins targeted cash and mementos in Ukiah with Ben Franklin store suffering the heaviest loss of 496 dollars from a safe in Coke Williams’s office. Law offices of Mayor Barry Wood and Judge-elect Jim Luther lost about 76 dollars plus coins. others included J.C. Penney and the Masonic Temple. Investigating details include entry through a Masonic Temple roof area, torn safes, scattered papers, and a gold pocket watch belonging to Luther. Dr. Thomas Standley 53 a Ukiah chiropractor for 23 years apparently killed himself last night in his office at 461 N State Street. His body found about 11 p.m. by his son Mark after leaving home about 8 p.m. Despondent over ill health the only weapon a single barrel shotgun. Surviving wife Marilyn four children Mark Laurel Kent Standley and Ellie Deering his mother Mrs Cladys Thomason and sister Doris Squier. Services Monday 11 a.m. at Eversole Mortuary with Rev Del Kjervestad officiating. Inurnment Chapel of the Chimes Santa Rosa.

Three of San Quentin Six Found Guilty in Long Trial
