Lost Aircraft Found Near Boonville Ranch
Wreckage of a four place Piper Cherokee carrying four people, including Santa Rosa pharmacist Leland Monroe and his family, was found about two miles above the George Butler Ranch on Boonville Road. Ambulances raced to the scene while Civil Air Patrol and sheriff’s air unit expanded the search. Monroe had filed a flight plan to Ukiah but canceled it, and the plane lacked emergency signaling gear slated to be required by 1973.

Susie Leighton Wins Stock Seat at Grand National Show
Ten year old Susie Leighton of Covelo rode quarter horse Rebel's Regard to first in the stock seat equitation class at the Grand National Junior Horse Show held at the Cow Palace. The winner, daughter of Mr and Mrs Percy Leighton, has ridden for about three years and trains with Stan Fonsen. She also claimed top awards at the Sacramento State Fair.

Minesweeper Force sinks as crew rescued by British ship
Sixty five crewmen abandoned the USS Force after a fire aboard the wooden hulled minesweeper off Haiphong. They were rescued by the British merchant vessel SS Spraynes about 820 miles west of Guam and later offered passage to Okinawa. No deaths were reported and the fire’s cause remained undetermined.

McCord testified that E Howard Hunt discussed executive clemency after a year in jail if he pleaded guilty and stayed quiet, but White House deputy press secretary Gerald L. Warren stated there was no discussion or offer from the President. McCord testified about payments for legal fees and a meeting with Hunt's wife hinting at further hush money and clemency, while Hunt and four others pleaded guilty. McCord and Liddy were convicted.
