Meat boycott seen as having little impact on prices

Rep. Benjamin Rosenthal says the weeklong meat boycott had almost no effect on prices and may be tried again in early May if the government acts. He blames exports and the farm subsidy program for high food costs while noting consumer groups seek lower prices and an overhaul of the agricultural system.

Search continues for missing S R aircraft with four aboard

A light Piper Cherokee vanished Friday near Santa Rosa with Leland Monroe his wife Doris and his son and daughter in law King Conner aboard. Mendocino sheriff suspended ground and air search for lack of leads though Civil Air Patrol and sheriff units pressed on with what could be 25 aircraft in the hunt. Monroe had rented the plane from Lets Fly Inc and filed a Santa Rosa to Ukiah flight plan canceling south of Santa Rosa at 9 48 p m Friday. Authorities fear possible crash in dense underbrush as CAP planes search canyons and mountains while FAA reports Monroe radioed from five miles south of Ukiah before canceling.

Merced hospital holds suspect in Nob Hill rapist case

Truck driver John P. Bunyard 28 wounded at Merced hospital after a 42 hour flight in which he is accused of kidnapping at least 10 people and murdering two women in Northern California. Salary questions dominate Ukiah district trustees meeting

Ukiah Unified School District board of education will meet Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Redwood Valley school cafeteria to review 1973-74 salary presentations for teachers and non teaching staff, approve the World of Food textbook, vocational plans 1978 75, and changes to summer school start and adult programs.
