Recreation district wins voter approval in Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg voters approved forming a Mendocino Coast Park and Recreation District by a 732 to 678 margin after late tallies. The vote also affected school tax plans in Round Valley and altered Fort Bragg Unified district boards, with turnout at 26.4 percent countywide. Fort Bragg residents supported a countywide municipal court plan over retaining the nine-justice system.

Irish Beach groundwork approved by county supervisors

County supervisors approved a general plan change and a specific plan of development for the 75 acre Irish Beach area north of Manchester. The 3-2 vote followed an environmental impact report deemed adequate. Water availability and rezoning conditions were argued, with final permits to come from the coastal commission before any construction begins.

Tiny pup snuffs danger with police aid and kid’s care

Snuffy the four year old Pomeranian has survived five vehicle strikes and multiple injuries. Lions Easter Egg Hunt at City Park Sunday

Rowland opposes Tomki gravel and hot mix plant plan

Planning Commission Chairman Barney Rowland harshly attacked Tomki Aggregates use permit for a hot mix and gravel extraction plant on Tomki Creek calling the site the worst spot. Indians Plan Walk for Justice Protest in Lakeport

A protest march led by John Robinson of the American Indian Movement and Carmen Christy and Dewey Barnes of the United Tribes Pomo chapter is planned for Saturday at noon in Lakeport to protest the arrests of Dewey Barnes and Mayfield Miranda. The march depends on Division of Highways permission. arrests stem from a Lakeport parade on April 7 with trial set for July 17.

Good Friday Service at United Methodist Church Ukiah
