Buried at Sea A Tale of a Shipboard Tragedy
John Matthews a tailor from Ireland came to Philadelphia two years ago and invited his family to join him. His wife and five children left Cavan on October 19 aboard the Lord Clyde. Soon after the voyage began one six year old son fell ill and died at sea. The burial occurred aboard the vessel before the family reunited in Philadelphia. The event stirs deep sympathy.

Longest Coal Train Surpasses All Rail Records
A train of 225 loaded four wheel coal cars crossed the Lehigh Valley Railroad recently, the longest and heaviest ever moved on any road. The feat is likened to older Conestoga wagon journeys between Eastern Pennsylvania and Pittsburg, a scale unimaginable to teamsters of sixty years ago. Nearby, a windblown incident caused a piece of iron to fall at the Home Electric Light plant on Blair Street Tuesday night around 8:30.
