Pima County Hospital Budget Allows Patient Fees for Free Care
About 6,000 hospital patients in Pima County will pay a nominal fee for services previously free under a tentative $17.5 million budget approved by the Board of Supervisors. The plan bases charges on ability to pay, and abortion funding is cut from $48,891 to $25,000. The budget also contemplates self insurance and expansion costs for Kino Community Hospital scheduled to open later this year.
