Hayden seeks sixth term in U S Senate from Arizona
U S Senator Carl Hayden filed for the Democratic renomination for a sixth Senate term. Veteran congressman since 1912, he has served as sheriff, wartime major, and chaired the appropriations committee. Hayden was born in Tempe on October 2, 1877 and educated at Tempe Normal School and Stanford.

Alberta legislator sought in mass killing at hillside farm
Police searched the Alberta frame farm for John F E Clark 41 a legislator and part time teacher after the bodies of his wife 36, four children Jenena 8 Ross 7 Ann 5 Linda 4 and hired man George Anderson 20 were found. Navy sailor Bill Olah 30 died of wounds after visiting the farm. A single shot .22 rifle borrowed from Clark’s uncle was ruled not the murder weapon.
