In Helena on September 6 the Montana Democratic State central committee faced a sensational split over delegate apportionment between F Aug Heinze and W A Clark factions. A tied vote ended with a compromise basing representation on divided votes for governor and supreme court, giving Heinze a clear edge.
The Compressed Spirits and Chemical Company, incorporated in Binghamton with a $100 000 capital, plans to market whisky in small tablets. Inventor H Charles Odenbaugh, Bennet Hotel head bartender, says the tablet preserves all whisky properties and dissolves in water to yield quality whisky. The tablet allegedly avoids internal revenue tax and state licenses.
New York metal and money market reports show Mexican currency at 404 1 4 cents, silver at 51 4 4 cents, and copper trading around 11.85. The figures reflect ongoing commodity and currency activity with stable copper pricing.
Francesco De Santise a Sterling Mines laborer from Rockland County New York was badly burned in a shaft clash at a Newark work site. He says a fellow laborer doused him with gasoline and oil and ignited his shirt after removing his lamp. He is in St Josephs hospital Paterson and likely to die. The attacker was jailed in Goshen.
Representatives of the Southwest Kansas and Oklahoma implement dealers association travel to Wichita to organize a broad campaign against a Chicago formed implement trust. They plan to urge farmers to refuse farm machinery from the trust and to renew contracts with outside firms next year if needed.
A Tonopah news flash from Butler Nevada reports a new strike at 480 feet on the Mizpah extension ledge about a mile east of the original workings. The ore is rich and resembles that of the Fraction, with the ledge now over two miles long. News sparked wild excitement in Bath and surrounding streets.

In Louisville on September 6, William Vogedes an 80 year old frail man climbed a high telephone pole to view St. Louis cemetery where his wife lies. He was assisted by Harvey Henry and firefighters from Hook and Ladder Company No. 2 who raised a forty foot ladder and brought Vogedes safely to the ground.
Stephen H. Weile Jr. drove a horse and runabout up the Kansas City Club stairs into the cafe in a $1,000 wager against Robert Goodlett of Goodlett & Stevens. Velie refused the payout, noting the bold feat satisfied his dare. Velie is a noted figure in the annual horse show and treasurer of John Deere Plow Co.

In Pueblo Colorado on September 6 a freight car on a siding at Bessemer Junction struck a loading car carrying four men. Two laborers were thrown to the track and run over, dying from the injuries.
