In Orange Texas on November 10 a feud erupts as Will Harris shoots Felix Chenault at a saloon, fatally wounding him. City Marshal Jordan is shot while taking Harris to jail, later died. Harris, Harris’s brother Jim, and Tony Jones die following subsequent pursuits.

Washington leaders from the Republican Party announce no tariff revision or anti trust legislation will be pursued in the Fifty eighth Congress. Senator Foraker and Representative Butler vow to block changes, stressing their states did not want tariff tinkering, as Republicans enter a defiant new phase after last week’s elections.
Bishop William C. Doane, speaking on a New York article, condemns public divorces and the push for remarriage among society leaders. He denounces those who flaunt wealth to gain church recognition while ignoring moral law and societal good, urging mercy tempered by accountability.

In Norman Oklahoma H W Menke of the Field Museum collects giant fossil bones near Orlando identified by Dr S W Williston of Kansas University. The immense remains likely belong to extinct amphibians or primitive reptiles with a frog like body size rivaling an ox. In Chicago D J Campau predicts W J Stone of Missouri could be the next US Senator and Democratic presidential candidate.
Mrs. John Slavin of Toledo and Mrs. Vina Gambey were found at the Frankfort hotel in Akron by police. Both pleaded guilty and were fined. Slavin to finish a $25,000 bridge and Gambey to end the affair as reconciliation was made in Mayor Doyle’s private office.
In Albuquerque on Sunday morning burglars drilled the Santa Fe station safe and stole over $1,000 in cash. They also robbed S Benjamin Co store, taking $510 in gold, twenty watches and jewelry. A man named Ed Joyce was arrested with sixteen watches and $240. Police seek two more men. the gang is linked to prior robberies in Trinidad and Las Vegas and is believed to have come from Denver.
Washington D C Nov 10 The Industrialists faction led by John Mitchell of the United Mine Workers challenges President Samuel Gompers for the AFL presidency at the New Orleans convention. The merger plan would absorb smaller unions into larger bodies, a move Gompers opposes strongly.
