A Nebraska woman sues for divorce alleging her husband wronged her and attacked a correspondent. The suit seeks dissolution of marriage and damages, with details highlighting a troubling domestic dispute and financial dispute within the family.
In Albion Nebraska on March 26 Mrs. John Patterson, wife of a wealthy man, and cousin George Thompson fought in the street as witnesses heard revolver fire. Thompson wounded no one but a bystander was hurt. Patterson surrendered to the sheriff after saying she killed to defend her honor and home. The jury refused divorce and exonerated Patterson.
In La Junta Colorado, 1920s era report says W. H. Hace a black sleeping car porter was hanged by a mob of about 4000 at a light pole in La Junta square after luring Mrs. Henrietta Miller from the California Limited into the yard and assaulting her in a rail yard. The mob shot the body after the lynching.
Telegraphs warn federal detectives of a forger scheme in which a well dressed man bought multiple money orders in Santa Monica Long Beach and San Pedro totaling $1250. He passed $50 orders through several merchants in Los Angeles before banks detected the fraud. Authorities call it one of the cleverest tricks in years.
