Canal swimmers cited after child death in canal
Sheriff deputies began issuing citations to people who swim in irrigation canals north of Tucson following a drowning this week. It marks the fifth canal death in five years, with 22 month old Billy Ray Bedwell among the fatalities. The CortaroMarana Irrigation District owns the 56 mile network along Interstate IC from Inn Road to the county line.
