Re opening McCray-Dewey academy petition circulated

A petition to reopen the McCray-Dewey academy is being circulated asking parents to state how many pupils they will send. Trustees are divided on reopening this fall, some favor delaying until estate funds grow. others hope for non resident attendance and possible earlier reopening. The academy closed five years ago due to exhausted funds and required estate improvements to sustain it. An outside endowment could stabilize financing, with Carnegie cited as a potential donor.
