Mayor Ronald Canestrari released a status report showing 100 of 120 HUD approved rental assistance units in COHOES leased. Four bedroom apartments remain available to eligible families with incomes below limits. 90 owners participate and assistance is paid to owners monthly.
Waterford residents press 11 questions at a public hearing on Mohawk Plaza proposed housing. Officials and developers discuss traffic, waste removal, easements, and water capacity, with a later meeting planned before any board action after Saratoga County Planning Board review.
The St Annes society of St Josephs parish sponsors a bake sale after masses in the school hall with Mabel Fichura chairing and donations welcome at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Cohoes Youth Bureau plans a trip to the Albany State Brockport football game. youths may sign up at the Cohoes Community Center office.
Grace Church members prepare for an annual bazaar and smorgasbord to be held Oct 21 and 22 in the church hall. Cochairmen John Marney and Thomas Lawrence Jr announce a gigantic basement sale plus varied merchandise with many volunteer department heads handling portraits clothing attic treasures and home items. Waterford Town Zoning Board of Appeals meets Tuesday at 7 30 p m at the town hall to discuss an update on the Millview Adult Home permit. Garry Douglas the village historian will lead an Oct 8 walking tour of Waterford landmarks starting at Federated Church with a rain date of Oct 9.
The Teachers conference underway includes in service programs for city district staff. A lecture on the philosophy of exercise by Al Pasinella at Cohoes Community Center Tuesday follows a Metrics awareness session led by Dr. Leroy Negus. Teachers will learn new computerized grade reporting procedures for the 1977 78 year.
Four Hensinger children Linda 7 Aggie 3 Richard 2 and Rachael 5 of Troy were overcome by carbon monoxide fumes while traveling with parents near Remsen and Ontario Street. Police officers moved them to Cohoes Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.
