Bailey Named to RPI Post Amid Mechanical Engineering Ties
Neil P. Bailey, long active in war problems research for General Electric, is appointed to the mechanical engineering department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He will succeed Prof. Edwin A. Fessenden, who retires December 22, after leading the department at RPI and contributing to GE-Schneck operations. Bailey, 43, is a University of Idaho graduate with a 1923 degree, a 1928 master’s from Idaho, and prior service in the LA 5 Marine Corps. He previously headed mechanical engineering at Rutgers and taught related fields.
