Ration point losses prompt adjustment provisions
The District Office of Price Administration announced retailers may apply for adjustments if point losses exceed PA percent of inventories due to removal of processed foods from rationing. Most canned vegetables spreads and salt except catsup and chili sauce are removed from rationing. Certificates may be issued to cover the difference between point value of the inventory Sunday and 75 percent of the retailer’s current allowable stock, lifting net profit to meet needs. Losses occur when points are removed from commodities paid for by retailers, who must sell without consumer payments.
