The Colonie Youth Recreation Center on 1st Avenue hosts a teen and preteen Halloween party dance this Friday at 7 30 p m with a professional band contests prizes and refreshments at no charge. Saturday afternoon at 1 p m a party for ages five to 12 features a costume parade refreshments and a Halloween movie.
Republican vice presidential candidate Robert Dole’s plane was rerouted from Albany County Airport due to poor visibility. He planned a 4:30 p.m. Albany stop, but weather sent the plane onward. Airport officials reported no flights yesterday because of fog and rain, with all services back to schedule this morning.
Wilfred Pauquette of the state board of equalization spoke to the Rensselaer County School Boards Association at Hoosick Falls about how state equalization rates are set. He noted town assessments vary from 3.6 to 80 percent, creating inequities, and explained the random sampling and sales data method used to determine each town’s equalization rate amid changing market values.

Police report a weekend spree of vandalism at Van Rensselaer Elementary School and the Rensselaer Girls Club. Damaged items include four door handles five windows and a cellar-entry window. Missing cash from B and R News totaled 300 and a blue revolving light was broken from a vehicle.
A committee has been named to plan Rensselaer Council 267 Knights of Columbus 80th anniversary events at the Friar Tuck Inn Cairo on Sept 16 to 18 1977 with chairs Paul Puls and George Venter and a long roster of officers and activities. Further details will follow.
