UALR Chapter Seeks Support for UN Peace Program

The chapter urged full support for the United Nations peace program amid a meeting presided by Regent Mrs Clarence Weaver. Attendees included multiple visitors from other UALR chapters, violin pieces by John Aird with Pauline Bayer, and a forthcoming rummage sale October 30 at the former Good Will Mission on Congress and River Streets. Hudson mother sues city and fire captain over fatal July 4 crash

Mrs John Lang of Hudson, mother of John Lang Jr, a fireman who died in an accident on July 4, has filed suit for 25000 against Hudson and Anthony Concra, captain of the H W Hoystadt Fire Company, driver of the truck that crashed into a pole after the parade and inspection. Lang alleges driver negligence. Claims total over 100000 for damages from the incident that injured several others.

Compromise Of Taxes Approved By Troy Board

Owners of two business places were allowed to compromise taxes to pave way for future operations. William Crowley estate, 398 400 Waver Street, settlement $3,000. James Hisposita, 558 Fulton Street, $2,015.13 for 1943 45 taxes. Mary Condon estate, 508 600 Fourth Street and 79 Tyler Street, $1,087.75 settlement. Florence Reid, 590 Fifth Avenue, $789.38 for 119th Street and 696 698 Second Avenue. John Fleming, 2897 Thirteenth Street, $87.84 for 1944. Board also approved $2.19 claim for damages to Valentine Berghuimer’s milk truck after striking a manhole on Hanover Street.

Thieves Slaughter Cow On Upstate Farm In Warren County

Patterson to Work on Atom Project at Brookhaven Lab

Dr Patterson, head of physics at RPL since 1910, will lead scientific personnel coordination for a government atom research center at Brookhaven. In Albany County Surrogates Court the will of Frederick Wose former newspaper correspondent who died August 5 in New York is paused until next Monday for additional testimony.
