Old High School Demolition Awarded To Burgess Bros Inc

Five bids were received for demolishing the new section of the old Waller A Wood High School building. Burgess Bros Inc of Bennington VT won with a 6500 dollar bid and must finish by April 1. The site will be turned to the Village of Hoosick Falls for one dollar to convert the building into apartments and restore it to the tax rolls. Other bids ranged from 6700 to 11900 dollars.

Aptitude Tests And College Night At Local Schools

Four seniors in the Natl Honor Society and 48 juniors at Hoosick Falls Central School took the Preliminary SAT. Results and an interpretive booklet will be issued in December. College Night at Waterford Half Moon CSD is set for Oct. 26 with bus departures and campus tours for about 52 juniors and seniors, plus a Hoosick Falls senior visit to Hudson Valley CC for program information. The College Boards registration deadline for Hoosick Falls students is Oct. 26, and guidance offices offer forms for seniors exploring four or two year colleges.

Plan For Supper At West Hoosier Baptist Church

Hoosick Falls Central School's 1987 Vagabond yearbook earned a first place at the 28th annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association conference. Editors Helen Hayes and Deborah Harrison, now at Skidmore and Elmira colleges, contributed to the honor.

Albert Hartheimer of Hartheimer Associates Albany and Harold C. Martin of Union College Schenectady were elected to the Board of Directors of Volunteers for International Technical Assistance VITA. Theodore D Lockwood announced VITA a private international postal Peace Corps head and dean of Union College faculty, VITA has 4400 volunteer consultants in 50 countries providing technical help to developing areas in Africa Asia and Latin America since 1959.
