Arthur Gleason president of the Cohoes Auxiliary Police Association says he was suspended after sending letters accusing the Cohoes Police Department of brutality. He cites a Oct 1 incident involving Joseph Monast and notes five prior cases. Police chief denies prejudging the matter.
The Cohoes Pop Warner League starts its home opener at Watervliet High School with a Pee Wees game against Twin Town at 1 p.m. and a Midgets game at 3 p.m. against Rotterdam. Each squad includes Cohoes and Watervliet players. a concession will serve spectators.

Albany County District Attorney Sol Greenberg said the Oct. 1 arrest of Jr Monast in Cohoes and an alleged police brutality incident involving two officers is under investigation. Monast faced charges of attempted assault resisting arrest and DWI after a 4:15 a.m. stop. He was treated for a concussion a broken nose and facial wounds at Cohoes Memorial Hospital.
Waterford-Halfmoon Elementary staff completed the first phase of an in service program led by principal Gerald K. Douglas and key educators to train teachers for learning handicapped students. The initiative aims to improve classroom instruction and smooth transition into regular classes with support from experts and area consultants. A $1700 State Education Dept grant funds the project under coordination by Dr. Walter Sawyer.
Waterford hosts a private plant sale after the business meeting. Sixty Plus Dining serves veal parmigiana Swedish meatballs baked chicken corned beef and baked fish at Grace Church with advance reservations with Mrs. Neary. Grace Church bazaar and smorgasbord set for Oct 21–22 with a 20 dish menu and tickets via Rev. Harrison.
The Junior Dante Club met in October to set a Thanksgiving dinner for November 2 at the club rooms chaired by Lillian Matrazzo. The group also schedules a December 10 trip to New York to view the Christmas show.
Mechanicville church schedules its first public luncheon for October 21 at 11 30 a m. to 1 30 p m in the dining room. Volunteers are asked to contact Grayce Robinson for kitchen help and also needed in the dining room.
COHOES St Michael's Community Center hosts a Sunday 2 p.m. meeting on Linden Street to discuss social activities for the rest of the year.
