Anthony Cerulli of the Cohoes Republican Party critics the proposed local law referendum that would raise Mayor Ronald Canestra’s salary from 8000 to 19000 a year to be in effect until December 31, 1979. City Clerk Irene Comtois confirms the wording as Local Law Introductory No. 2 and notes filing timing.
A 28-year-old Averill Park man named John Burns was arraigned on four charges after a morning incident on Ontario Street at 3:45 a.m. Police used tear gas to restrain him. he refused to cooperate and was held in the cell block. He faces Oct. 21 court reappearance. Officers McKown Miranda and Ross investigated.
A seminar titled Human Sexuality will be held at the Cohoes Community Center from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by the center and the Albany Catholic Diocese, it features Sister Anne Bryan Smollin and Anne Rudolph.
