Police report two minor fires in Rensselaer over recent days. One fire at 1459 Second St. near 8:46 p.m. Monday confined to brush and trees behind a building with no damage. An electrical fire at 51 Elm St. around 5:30 p.m. Friday confined to the stove in a resident’s home.
An autopsy on 17-year-old Cecelia Genatiempo of Gloversville confirmed a stab wound as the cause or a contributing factor. The procedure, performed at Albany Medical Center by Dr. Jack N. P. Davies, occurred October 3 but results were released days later. Two people have been charged with kidnapping in the July 25 incident and more arrests may follow as the investigation continues.
Police in Rensselaer reported two arrests over the past two days. Zachary S. Howard of Albany was released on 25 dollars bail after an eight thirty four p m arrest for disorderly conduct. Rita Matthews of Albany posted 25 dollars bail after a bad check warrant. A burglary at Janet E. Sherwin’s apartment netted 40.25 dollars. An antenna was broken from Albert C. White’s car at Joy Department Store.
Albany Capital District Transportation Authority reports a $672 755 federal check for operating expenses covering April 1 to September 30. Authority chair Joseph Parillo notes the Urban Mass Transportation Administration payment was delayed about three weeks and that an early $185 000 state payment helped avoid borrowing. Two thirds of operating costs are paid by riders and bus advertising with the remainder from federal state and county sources.
The Castleton Village Board held a public hearing Monday night for Local Law One 1976. Local Law One passed without discussion changing dual use sewer lines to sewer to align with plans for a new sewage treatment plant. The Local Law Two hearing was postponed to November and may allow games of chance for fundraising by nonprofits. The Kiwanis Halloween Parade is set for Sunday October 31 starting 6:30 p.m. at Castleton Elementary School with a route to Main Street Green Avenue and a stop at the firehouse for refreshments and awards.
A fire at the Werner residence on Route 66 in Greenport near Hudson broke out about 5 50 a m and burned for over three hours. No injuries were reported. cause and full extent are not yet known, per Sgt Garvey of the Columbia County Sheriff's Department. The fire chief was still on scene for updates.

Hoosick one lane bridge at routes 7 and 22 under construction causes severe weekend delays as foliage seekers flood the area. Temporary lights cannot handle the traffic and troopers were unavailable for control. No accidents reported, but tempers flare.

Police report no new leads in the disappearance of 17 year old Cynthia Krizack the daughter of a Williamstown dentist. She left home October 8 for the library and did not return, with detectives continuing the investigation five days after the last sighting.

The state approves 12 percent funding for East Greenbush sewer outfall and forwards for 75 percent federal aid from the EPA. The $304,442 Third Avenue Sewer District project awaits full funding after meeting all requirements. Town Supervisor Michael Van Voris says $38,052 state aid and $228,332 federal monies are pursued.
Republican city chairman Lester Jeffries announces a Saturday October motorcade through Rensselaer city with Raymond Lebrecht, eighth ward alderman candidate, among riders. The cavalcade departs at 10 a.m. from Partition and First Streets headquarters, followed by a bake sale at 1 p.m. Donations of baked goods accepted after 9 a.m. on Oct. 23.
