Brother Antony David Teaches in Mindanao Mission School

Brother Antony David of the Las ic Brothers and son of Mrs. Margaret Kiernan of 1oxa fifth Ave is teaching in a mission school on Mindanao Island in the Philippines. He is stationed in Mindanao City where he reports the school lacks windows and the day starts early at 4 43 am with classes from 5 43 am to 11 30 am, then 1 30 pm to 2 pm with physical education and military activities. He traveled to the Philippines via Norway and notes a 21 day journey. He shares a residence in a small house with five brothers and mentions his brother Trooper W J Kiernan is with Troop G in Troy.

White Quits as Envoy to Sweden

President Eisenhower accepted the resignation of Francis White as ambassador to Sweden for personal reasons. White has served in Sweden since June 1957 after previously serving as ambassador to Mexico. The effective date will be announced later.

Berlin Boys Pay For Vandalism by Restitution Plan

Four teenaged Berlin boys who damaged Mrs. Joseph Schill’s property will make restitution by contributing to churches of their choice until the $100 damage is paid. Justice Edwin L. Gleicher approved the plan after Mrs. Schill declined prosecution. Trooper Nieckarz noted other vandalism complaints near the Berlin high school.

Banquet and meeting notices at local churches clubs

The An Eug banquet will be held at West Hoosick Baptist Church on Friday evening. The Powamppakons Fish and Game Club plans its monthly meeting at 8 30 p m today at the clubhouse. Al and Mrs Henry Requate of Pittstown attended the funeral of Mrs Oscar Requate in Newark Valley New York over the weekend.

Averill Park Church Group Plans Tea and Talk

The Hosary-Altas Society of St. Henrys Church Averill Park met in the parish hall with Rev Joni J Murphy GP D associate director of the Family Rosary as speaker. Mrs James Mohan presided as president. Plans were made for a silver tea on Sunday Oct 49 at the Crooked Lake Hotel from 3 to 5 pm. Mrs. David Van Alstyne will speak to the Samaritan Hospital Women’s Auxiliary at the hospital today. She will discuss the topic SA Growling Auxiliary, with Mrs. W. Franklin Spattora presiding. Dr. Abbie Findlay Potts, program chairman, will attend. Van Alstyne, from Englewood NJ, is president of the New Jersey Association of Hospital Auxiliaries and has held multiple leadership roles in nursing, public health, and Red Cross volunteering.

Saratoga Man Pleads Guilty To Mail Fraud Charge

Edward W. O'Brien, 58, of Saratoga Springs, pled guilty in U S District Court at Rochester to mail fraud for selling a phony soup vending distributorship. Federal agents say he defrauded seven Western New Yorkers of 815,000. Judge Harold Pe Burke deferred sentencing. Charles F. Brodrib, 31, Troy, awaits trial on the same charge. Both men were out on $2,500 bail.
