State Police officials said the request by the school board to have patrols frequent Bell Top and Green Meadow areas in nightly rounds would be taken under advisement. The move follows a weekend break in at the Bell Top Show in North Greenbush where about 1500 in property was stolen.

Ford Motor Grants 70 Scholarships Announcement

Ford Motor Company offers about 70 scholarships under the Ford Motor Fund program. Applications due March 15. Eligibility includes children of Ford employees and certain relatives, graduates of the class of 1959, with top academic standing. Exams to be held January 10, 1959, in major cities. winners receive tuition and fees assistance with limits up to 750 dollars yearly away from home and 200 dollars at home. The Ford Motor Fund, a nonprofit, finances these scholarships through Ford Motor Co. contributions.

Whitehall Native Retires From Army After 10 Years

Lt. Col. William P. Haaver, a Whitehall native and stepson of Whitehall Pollen Chief Michael Taha Casse, retired after 10 years of service at the Sacramento Signal Depot. He earned the Commendation Ribbon for meritorious service as chief storage division officer from 1956 to September 1958. Haaver, born in Whitehall and a Whitehall High School alumnus, entered the Army in August 1958 and will pursue business in Sacramento after retirement. He and his wife Paring Dalton, plus their three children William, Tony, and Barry, will reside in Sacramento.

Stat Sergeant Home On Furlough

George D. McCullough Jr. and Mrs. George D. McCullough Sr. of 386 Arthur AM arrived home Sunday for 30 days furlough from the Air Force after service in Korea and Japan. He flew home from Japan with stops at Wake Island Honolua and San Francisco. At end of furlough he will be assigned to a Royal Air Force base in Scotland.

One Assessment Book Delays in Hensselaer County Towns

A 1939 tax assessment process in Hensselaer County shows delays as 14 towns were to file compliance with the Nassau Office by Sept 1.
